Summer/Fall 2004

I'm afraid this is going to be a rather boring travel log entry, but I guess we should at least bring it up to date...

We spent the summer in New York so we could visit family in New York City. Although we had planned to spend at least a couple months traveling around the state to see some sights, we ended up sitting in one spot all summer. The schedule was too tight on a big software project, and our customers have to come first.

We did get to try several interesting restaurants in the city -- some ethnic foods, various pizza places like Lombardi's, Johnny's and Two Boots, a Zen place with all organic food, etc. We also got to eat at Rocco's, made famous by the TV reality show "The Restaurant". We even got to talk to Mama and have Mama's meatballs. Rocco wasn't there, but we did recognize several of the waitpersons from the show.

I know everybody likes photos, so here are a few miscellaneous pictures of our time there.

The Cherry Top -- a neat little roadside ice cream shop near Newburgh:

We left New York in early October so we could be back in Kansas City to celebrate Stan's gramdmother's 100th birthday. There was a wonderful party and it was great to see most of the family there, many of whom we hadn't seen in years.

That's all for now -- we're heading back to Mesa Arizona right after Thanksgiving, where we'll stay for a few months as usual. Two of Stan's cousins, which we also haven't seen for years, have just moved to Mesa as well. We're looking forward to seeing a lot of them and their families this winter.

Who knows, we might even find time to do some sight-seeing this coming year!

We wish everyone happy holidays and a great new year!
